The specific and primary purposes for which JRF is organized are to educate, enrich and inspire the general public in the rich history of the William James Pleasants Ranch and to provide a setting for spiritual renewal.  The means shall include but not be limited to preserving historic buildings, to securing habitat for wildlife and native plants, to conserving land and waterways, to supporting agriculture and to maintaining vistas.

2007 Ranch Ruckus

The 2007 year has proven to be another eventful year at Joyful Ranch!  We're honored and excited that you chose to share in a part of that year.  Your donations were most appreciated!

Our challenges and accomplishments increase each year - Some 2007 highlights follow:

Jan - We began developing our Strategic Plan and continued refining and implementing our 5-, 10-, & 15-yr overall planning; Ruth Mickelson was our Facilitator.  We also began our Business Plan, spring-boarding into our Capital Campaign projects planning.

Feb - Boy Scout Eagle Project provided 4 redwood picnic tables, now placed in the front Olive Grove.

Mar - We purchased our Lu-Lou (port-a-potty) - a great asset to our facilities and hosting events!  CA Conservation Corps planted creek willows.

Apr - The JRF Board finalized & approved our Strategic Plan!  Yahoo!

May - We hosted The Solano Symphony 16th Annual Home Tour; major walnut orchard grafting took place; Scout Troop #975 had a campout, did a large orchard clean-up and cooking badge activity.  Rick Poore of Streamwise repaired Pleasants Creek "W" weir by the PVR bridge.

June - JRF held its 2nd Annual Day at the Ranch.

July - Community Presbyterian held their Vacation Bible School July 2-5.

Aug - We hosted our first retreat--Dixon Community Church Women's Leadership Group.  CA Ag Heritage Club (through the State Fair venue) awarded the Hoskins-Pleasants Joyful Ranch the 100-, 125- and 150-yr Continuous Ranching Inductee Award (way to go, Ethel!!)

Oct - JRF hosted their 1st wedding.

Nov - Stabilization & repair of Tractor Barn--Wait 'till you see it!!! - and Garage.  First TWO of 13 historic buildings addressed thanks to YOUR donations - and a jillion antique farm items categorized and ready for final labeling & cataloging.  These projects will require an enormous amount of volunteer help.  Click here for more information about how you can become a Volunteer

We are so privileged to have had you a part of our ever-unfolding legacy.  Hope you'll continue to "pardner-up" with us!!

Lookin' forward to seein' ya'all in 2008!!
